Parents

“…the whole point about the arts is that they are about selfhood and they actually make us powerful. If you develop your voice, learn to draw, learn to make things, feel that you can construct the future, that you have a hand in the world, and that you could contribute to that world, that makes you powerful.”

Bob and Roberta Smith, National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) website

According to the Cultural Learning Alliance ‘Imagine Nation’ report, giving children and young people access to arts learning and experiences also:

  • Increases cognitive abilities and attainment across the curriculum
  • Develops confidence, self-esteem
  • Feeds your health and wellbeing (people of all ages who take part in the arts in some way are 38% more likely to report good health)

As a parent, carer, PTA or parent forum member, please encourage your school to become an InspirED school. And take a look at our community page for ways that you can help your child or school to have more access to arts and cultural experiences.
